Going to Bali? Skip the queue and use the autogate instead

KUALA LUMPUR: Visitors entering Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport can now skip the queue and use the new autogate services. The recently introduced autogate is expected to provide smoother and quicker processing by customs.

Visitors from visa-free countries such as Malaysia will need to register online beforehand via Indonesia's immigration website.

Other visa-free countries that are eligible to use the automated system are Brunei, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Timor-Leste, Thailand, and Vietnam.

However, children below the age of 14 are not allowed to use the autogates.

Earlier this year, Indonesia's director general of immigration, Silmy Karim, inaugurated 30 new autogate processing points at the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport's international airport terminal.

The new autogate services, which are equipped with face recognition and Border Control Management technology, will provide a quicker and hassle-free inspection with greater efficiency.

The new system will reduce the needed time to go through immigration to just 15 to 20 seconds per person.

The airport plans to launch an additional 50 autogate in the later part of this year.

Not only that, but more gates will soon be added for visitors leaving the airport.
