Toyota officially launches Veloz, already has 6,000 bookings

KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor officially retires its ever-popular B-segment multipurpose vehicle (MPV) Avanza with the introduction of the Veloz.

Deemed a step up, the Veloz replaces the Avanza model in the local B-segment MPV market in which it has sold over 178,000 units since it was introduced locally in 2004.

"Order taking rate shows positive acceptance since the all-new Veloz was made available for bookings in June this year and we are committed to giving our best effort and going the extra mile to ensure delivery to SST exempted customers before March 2023.

"As of now the Veloz has recorded over 6,000 bookings, signaling increased interest in the crossover sports utility vehicle (SUV)-look," said UMW Toyota Motor president Ravindran. K.

With a new front-wheel drive (FWD) platform and suspension, the new locally assembled (CKD) 7-seater houses a 1.5L engine (2NR-VE) thats paired to a 7-speed CVT with access to three drive modes (ECO, Normal and Power).

On the outside are 17-inch Alloy Rims, LED headlamps with the Follow Me Home feature, and Daytime Running Lights. The roof rails offer storage potential of up to 75 kg.

Cabin comes with a new nine-inch display audio touchscreen that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless "Qi" charging pad, and Electric Parking Brake (EPB).

Toyota Safety Sense is built into the Veloz, giving it a range of safety features such as: Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention and Lane Keeping Control (LKC).

It is available in five colours: Silver Metallic with Black Roof, Blue Metallic with Black Roof, White, Metallic Bluish Black and Red Metallic. It has a starting price of RM95,000 (without insurance).

Coinciding with its launch, Toyota announced it would also divulged more details of its year end promotions soon.

This, along with the unveiling of a new short film named 'Deepavali Lives in Us' is in celebration of the upcoming Deepavali.

The year end promotions is said to include cash rebates, free accessories on selected models worth up to RM 4,000, and 100 per cent loan financing with monthly instalment payments from as low as RM 515+.
