Proton opens in-house tinting service at Tanjung Malim plant

TANJUNG MALIM: Proton's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tanjung Malim now has its own exclusive accessories tint centre.

According to the national automaker, the many inherent advantages to having tints fitted by the OEM as opposed to being done after a vehicle has been delivered includes: a better precision fit and finish using pre-cut dies, stringent quality assurance measures, compliance to JPJ regulations and the elimination of secondary defects commonly associated with aftermarket installations.

Customers also get to enjoy a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty on all tinting services.

Proton Edar chief executive officer Roslan Abdullah said the company has better quality control and can offer better peace of mind for its customers by taking responsibility of the fitment process.

"The launch of our new tint centre in Tanjung Malim is a significant step towards Proton's commitment to delivering quality products and more value to our customers. The tint centre is also prepared to take on any short-term increase in volume as more models in Proton's range are offered with tinting as a standard fit accessory with a current built-in capacity of 5,000 vehicles per month," he added.

Security tinting was introduced as a standard fit accessory for Flagship and Premium variants of the Proton X90 when it was launched on May 7, 2023.

This was repeated with the Proton S70 when it was launched in November last year with both the Flagship and Flagship X variants receiving security tinting as part of the standard accessories package.

Proton says the option will be expanded to other models in the near future.
