Mother pleads for return of missing 15-year-old disabled child

ALOR STAR: Hazani Hashim cut a forlorn look, with tears streaming down her weary and worried face.

Her son, Muhammad Yusrie Nayan, has been missing for a week, without a trace.

The 47-year-old mother of three said her 15-year-old son, who is disabled, was last spotted leaving their house in Flat Seri Gemilang on the night of Sept 8 in a black t-shirt, with his schoolbag and some personal identification documents.

"His younger brother's friend saw Yusrie being taken away by a Malay man on a motorcycle.

"‎That was the last time we saw him. Since then, we have not heard from him," she said in between sobs.

Hazani was speaking a press conference at the MCA Crisis Relief Squad office here today‎, accompanied by CRSM Pokok Sena head Heng Tan Kooi.

A police report was lodged on Sept 11, three days after his disappearance.

Hazani is at her efforts in searching for her child has been unsuccessful so far.

"His behaviour was as normal. There was nothing unusual.

"Whenever he went out, he would always inform us," she said, adding that it is the first time Yusrie, a slow learner, as gone missing.

Hazani said Yusrie had mentioned once about going to Perlis to find work.

Hazani, who works as a cleaner in a school, finds it hard to focus on her work.

"I still go to work, but my heart is simply not at ease,‎" she added.

Meanwhile, Heng‎ urged those who may have information on Yusrie's whereabouts to contact the centre at 010-5652011-18.

"We are concerned about his well-being, as people could take advantage of him due to his disability," she said.
