Opposition urges state government to review enactment before it is tabled

NUSAJAYA: Earlier today morning, the opposition urged the state government to properly review the Johor Housing and Property Board Enactment 2014 before it was to be tabled.

Outside the road leading to the state assembly building in Bangunan Sultan Ismail, a group of 10 Johor Pas members gathered to urge the state government to postpone the tabling of the enactment.

Johor Pas Youth chief Mohd Faizul Mohd Salleh said the state assembly should be given ample time to study the enactment to ensure that it meets the needs of the people.

Later in the day, the state's opposition assemblymen claimed that they did not receive the amended copy of the enactment.

Johor opposition chief and Skudai assemblyman Dr Boo Cheng Hau said the opposition assemblymen wanted to go through the written amendments before they can deliberate further.

"So far, we cannot comment on it as we have yet to receive the revised copy," said Dr Boo in the morning before the tabling of the enactment.

He added that it was important to look at the amendments as it concerned the drafting of a law.
