MABUL ATTACK: Resort closed to public, heavy police presence seen

SEMPORNA: Mabul Water Bungalows Resort is closed for public to allow police to investigate the shooting that killed a policeman.

According to the resort's Facebook account, the premises will be closed until tomorrow.

A dive master with the resort, known only as King, told the New Straits Times that there were heavy police presence at the resort.

"I was told they are closing the area to carry out a probe on the shooting," he said when contacted, adding he heard at least five shots last night.

At around 11pm, eight gunmen clad in black shirt and pants with military fatigues came in a boat from the direction of the southern Philippines.

They fired random shots towards the resort and hit Corporal Ab Rajah Jamuan who was having supper with his colleague Constable Zakiah Aleip.

Zakiah was reported missing.
