KUALA LUMPUR: US ambassador Joseph Y. Yun offered his condolences to the next of kin of those on board Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.
He said United States was a strong partner of Malaysia and they stand ready to assist in investigation of the crash.
"I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn the news. I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for the families who lost loved ones.
"On behalf of the staff of the embassy, I offer our sincerest condolences to the families and friends of those on board," he said in a statement.
