MH17: King, Queen convey grief, offer condolence

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah expressed their deepest grief over the incident involving Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, which had gone down in the eastern Ukraine on Thursday.

In a statement issued by Istana Negara today, Tuanku Abdul Halim and Tuanku Hajah Haminah said the nation is mourning over the tragedy, which had claimed the lives of 298 passengers and crew of the Boeing 777-200 aircraft.

The King and Queen also offered their condolence to family members of all passengers and crew of the downed jetliner, which had perished while it was heading to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam.

Tuanku Abdul Halim called upon all Malaysians to pray with the hopes that the affected families would be granted with strength and perseverance in dealing with this difficult times.

“We also would like to congratulate the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the Malaysian government for making all the efforts and cooperation with several parties to unravel the cause of the incident,” the statement said.
