KUALA LUMPUR: Following is the statement by Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman on the Israeli military attack on Gaza
Malaysia strongly condemns the continuous atrocious attacks by the Israeli military on the Gaza and the recent bombardment on the city of Shejaia on 20 July 2014 and Al-Aqsa Hospital on 21 July 2014, respectively which have claimed the innocent lives of more than 100 Palestinian civilians including 17 children and 14 women. To date, Israeli incessant military attacks on Gaza have killed more than 576 civilians, one-third being women and children while injuring more than 3,500 others and destroying countless civilian homes and infrastructure.
Israel’s ruthless military attacks on civilians are uncalled for and are a crime against humanity. Malaysia therefore calls on the United Nations, especially the United Nations Security Council and the international community to take immediate action to halt Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinian people of Gaza and work towards bringing calm and peace between Israel and Palestine.
