KUALA LIPIS : Forty-one passengers had a lucky escape when the double-decker express bus they were travelling caught fire at Km32 Jalan Lipis-Merapoh near Felda Telang today afternoon.
District police chief Superintendent Abdul Razak Hassan said the bus was travelling to Kota Bharu, Kelantan from Puchong, Selangor when the
driver noticed smoke emitting from the engine about 1.45pm.
He said no injuries were reported as the driver, his assistant and passengers managed to flee the vehicle before it was engulfed.
However, he said bags belonging to seven passengers which were kept in the luggage compartment were razed in the incident.
