Hotel Sentral Seaview Penang has a new look and an arresting sea view. Balvin Kaur is impressed
IT’S a windy day when we reach the new Hotel Sentral Seaview in Tanjung Tokong, 12km from the capital of George Town, Penang.
Stepping into the hotel lobby, we are immediately taken aback, pleasantly of course, by the incredible change to the hotel, which was formerly known as Naza Talyya Hotel.
Gone are the pillars and walls separating the lobby from the cafe and sea, and gone too is the old, musty decor. Now, we see a wide, open lobby with floor to ceiling windows and modern decor. Its warm red, beige and brown hues contrast brilliantly with the cool blue shades of the swimming pool, which stretches out to the sea like an infinity pool.
Still awed by the jaw-dropping view, we are greeted by the friendly staff and are immediately ushered to the cafe to wait for hotel manager, Anna Yoon. While waiting, we could not stop admiring the beautiful view.
TOUR OF THE HOTEL
Yoon takes us on a tour of the hotel. The cafe, with its floor to ceiling windows, opens out to a outdoor deck with a bar and swimming pool. Sitting here with a cool drink or taking a dip in the pool while taking in the spectacular sea view will be heavenly.
The nine-storey hotel has 126 rooms from family suites and deluxe suites to king and twin rooms. Modern, spacious and cosy are words that come to mind when looking at the rooms.
The amazing part is that one can catch the sea view at different angles from almost all rooms. The three-star hotel is strategically located on the beach along the northern coastline of the island.
It is just a short drive from George Town, where pre-war buildings and colonial homes still stand with great pride.
Near the hotel are food stalls, restaurants and hawker centres as well as the famous tourist belt of Batu Ferringhi.
