MH17: MAS staff still going strong together

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines (MAS)staff are still going strong together, despite the occurence of MH17 tragedy that hit the national carrier on July 17.

The mood was however sombre, as staff of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) gathered for a special tahlil prayers for the victims of MH17.

The special tahlil was followed by buka puasa, solat hajat and terawih prayers for the victims of MH 17 at Masjid Tengku Kelana Jaya Petra in Petaling Jaya.

Present at the event was MAS chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya.

Local residents around the mosque also joined in the special tahlil.

MAS management strategic communications (external relations & stakeholder) manager Lokman Ishak said the tahlil was a series of events held by the Muslims staff for the tragic flight.

"We are still strong and work is on going. The incident has affected us gravely but we have to accept the reality of this horrible incident.

"Airlines are prone to accidents and incidents but business has to continue as usual.

"We have caregivers from Mercy Malaysia, who are counseling the staff going abroad and on the ground," Lokman said.

A total of 298 people abroad the MH17 were killed in the incident of which 43 were Malaysians including 15 MAS crew members.
