KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit closed lower against the US dollar yesterday on short covering and mild profit-taking, a currency trader said.
At 5pm, the local unit was quoted at 3.1735/1755 against the greenback from Wednesday’s 3.1665/1685.
The local note traded lower against other major currencies.
It fell against the Singapore dollar to 2.5630/5656 from 2.5557/5590 on Wednesday and depreciated against the yen to 3.1248/1276 from 3.1237/1266.
The local unit declined against the British pound to 5.3997/4041 from Wednesday’s 5.3979/4026 and edged down against the euro to 4.2785/2825 from 4.2640/2670 previously. Bernama
