Club raises funds for its foundation

GEORGE TOWN: The Rotary Club of Penang held a fine dining charity dinner at Park Royal Hotel here recently.

Some 200 members of the club as well as corporate figures attended the event which aimed to raise RM300,000 for the Penang Rotary Charity Foundation.

The foundation needs the funds for three projects — The Rotary Haemodialysis Centres, The Rotary Joblink Centre for the Handicapped and The Rotary Home Nursing for the Elderly.

Since 1994, the Rotary Haemodialysis Centres have provided affordable dialysis to the poor. More machines are needed to cope with the increasing number of patients.

Meanwhile, the Rotary Joblink Centre for the Handicapped is a non-profit organisation that helps the disabled aged 16 and above to secure jobs.

As for the Rotary Home Nursing for the Elderly, it aims to provide quality healthcare for senior citizens.

The diners were pampered with exclusive delicacies that were prepared by a team of renowned chefs led by chef de cuisine Jeffrey Tan from Melbourne, Australia.

Besides the scrumptious food, the Heng Ee Secondary School orchestra serenaded the crowd with lovely hits.

Established in 1930, the Rotary Club of Penang is an organisation that provides humanitarian service and strives to build goodwill and peace in the world.
