Perak Sultan performs Raya prayers

KUALA KANGSAR: Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah joined some 2,000 Muslims to perform his Raya prayers at Masjid Ubudiah at Bukit Chandan here today.

He was accompanied by his son Raja Azlan Muzaffar Shah, Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and Raja Di-Hilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Sultan Idris Shah.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, Perak Mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria, state secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan and other state executive councillors.

While there is the customary visits among friends and relatives, overall it was a low key Raya celebration in the state with no big scale open houses held in respect of victims of Malaysia Airlines MH17.

Air of festivities were lacking with no colourful decorations being put up to usher in the celebrations.

At the Ipoh district police, its annual open house was held for its personnel at the Pekan Baru police station here.

Officers and rank and file performed their prayers at the station's mosque before tucking in to traditional delicacies like lemang, ketupat and rendang ayam.
