Musa: Govt works hard to improve security in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman reassured public the government is working hard to find solutions and come up with strategies to improve security in state.

On his Aidilfitri greeting statement, he stressed that government understood concerns and frustrations raised by the people on security issue.

"It is something that cannot be compromised in order for the state to function effectively and (at the same time) should not be used by certain groups to gain political mileage.

"The government also seek cooperation of Malaysians in Sabah not to hurl criticism, but band together and offer solutions," he said, adding that public should inform authority if there are suspicious individuals or groups.

Musa also thanked armed forces, police and other security agencies including the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) for their challenging work in keping Sabah as safe as possible.

"I hope they will soon have a chance to meet their families and enjoy a belated celebration as most of them will be on duty during the festival.

"As for those who are able to welcome Hari Raya Aidilfitri let us remember those others in our prayer for those who are unable to celebrate due to duty, war or oppression," he added.

Meanwhile, Musa also said government was focusing efforts on improving infrastructure, reducing poverty an ensuring that every school leaver has access to higher education through the introduction of training centres and relevant places of learning statewide.

"Skilled and knowledeable workers will assist Sabah in becoming a state that is competetive within Malaysia and the Southeast Asian region.

"The Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) and the Sabah Development Corridorr remain on track, with the focus on some key areas such as oil and gas, and the downstream processing of palm oil starting to show results.”
