LOOKING good is the best revenge. That’s the tagline for Red’s Revenge, a brand that aspires to help women complete their killer looks.
Founded in October 2011 by Allison Chin, an arts graduate from California State University Los Angeles, Red’s Revenge offers casual, classic and contemporary statement accessories for women of all ages.
Chin says the name, Red’s Revenge, refers to the Little Red Riding Hood fable but there’s a twist in the tale as she avenges her grandmother.
“In the earliest versions of the story, which is significantly different from the currently known Grimms-inspired version, Red Riding Hood uses her own cunning to escape. She is smart, bold and courageous,” says Chin.
“This defines the essence of the brand, which is to embrace one’s individuality with a strong and fierce attitude. All the accessories in Red’s Revenge reflect these qualities and attitude. From the design to the colour, there’s always that hint of edginess, no matter how subtle,” she says.
Chin says she decided to create her own brand when she realised that there was a gap in the local fashion accessories market.
“The really nice accessories - like statement accessories, bling-bling earrings and such — were usually too expensive. Even classy casual pieces to wear with jeans and tops are either hard to find or very pricey,” she says.
“On the other hand, there are the really cheap and tacky-looking accessories, items that you buy at a mall and then you see them being sold at the local pasar malam. This is why Red’s Revenge was started, to offer women trendy and classic quality accessories at an affordable price.”
CHANGING TRENDS
Red’s Revenge has a treasure-trove of classic and statement accessories, catering to various trends and all ages — from young and carefree to sophisticated and exclusive - allowing every woman to find a little something to express her unique personal style. There are earrings, necklaces, bracelets, head gears, belts, scarves, gloves, hats, clutches and bags. Its statement necklaces are its best sellers.
“Our accessories feature premium materials such as glass, stone and natural coral. Most are limited editions and we don’t carry large quantities of each item,” says Chin, who adds that they are also affordably priced between RM19.90 and RM39.90.
While shoes and some handbags are designed by in-house designers, all other accessories are hand-picked by Chin.
She says: “The designs change from season to season as these are fast fashion accessories after all. Trends change all the time, and Red’s Revenge makes sure it is at the forefront of that change.
“However, one element of design that may perhaps be a ‘constant’ can be found in vintage inspired statement pieces which reflect the ageless tale of Red Riding Hood.”
LITTLE RED BOX
In October, Red’s Revenge will be introducing a new shopping experience with a monthly subscription box, aptly named The Little Red Box.
Chin explains: “Every month, customers will receive a Little Red Box containing accessories such as necklaces, earrings and more, hand-selected by our stylists and based on the customer’s personal style. You may also receive a statement accessory that you will never think of wearing but which our stylists feel will look great on you.”
That’s not all. Chin says: “If you have a special event coming up — a wedding, corporate dinner, hen’s night or you just want something to really knock someone’s socks off — let us know and we’ll put something together for you.”

Wear it right
Allison Chin, founder of Red’s Revenge, shares some tips on the best way to accessorise.
Statement necklaces are perfect for sprucing up a simple monotone outfit or dressing a bare decolletage.
Focus on one statement item. Don’t over accessorise and get mistaken for a decorative tree by pairing statement necklaces with statement earrings - unless you’re going to a fancy dress party.
Accessorise based on your entire outfit. You need to take into account the neckline, colour of your clothes as well shoes and hairstyle.
Less is more. When in doubt, take off one item before leaving home.
