KL shares lower at midday

KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia turned slightly lower at midday today in active trading, with interest seen in selected heavyweights and penny stocks.

At lunch break, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 1.67 points higher at 1,879.01, after reaching an intra-day high of 1,886.39 in the morning session.

Market breadth was negative as losers edged gainers 402 to 342 with 302 counters unchanged and 39 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.02 billion shares worth RM1.39 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index declined 12.58 points to 17,341.53,

the Plantation Index dipped 32.17 points to 9,059.6, and the Industrial

Index dipped 2.89 points to 3,252.22.

The FBM Emas Index gained 6.45 points for 13,117.36, the FBMT100 Index increased 4.6 points to 12,688.49, and the FBM Ace rose 44.26 points to 7,070.56.But the FBM 70 slipped 20.55 points to 14,363.54.

Among actives, PDZ Holdings rose 1.5 sen to 18 sen, Sumated edged up

half-a-sen to 40.5 sen, while Talam Transform and DGB Asia gained one sen each to 12.5 sen and 10.5 sen respectively.

Meanwhile, MAS was flat at 22 sen.

Of the heavyweights, TNB rose four sen to RM12.44, Axiata added three sen to RM6.92, Sime Darby was one sen higher at RM9.67, Maybank was flat at RM9.91 and Public Bank declined six sen to RM19.82. -- BERNAMA
