klia2 closes 9 aircraft bays over jet fuel glitch

SEPANG: Nine aircraft parking bays were temporarily closed at klia2 yesterday, after a pressure drop was detected in the jet fuelling system.

Malaysia Airports Bhd said it had been advised by Kuala Lumpur Aviation Fuelling System (KAFS) of the defect and decided to close bays K2-K18.

“As an airport operator that considers airport and passenger safety a matter of priority, Malaysia Airports views this matter seriously. While there is no immediate cause for concern, this measure is taken as a safety precaution, as well as to allow KAFS to perform a thorough check.”

It added that the temporary closure of the bays was estimated to last until midnight on Sunday.

Malaysia Airports had held meetings with stakeholders, including major airline operators, to keep all parties updated.

It did not anticipate any major disruption to airport operations, as the terminal had sufficient parking bays for airlines to use.
