In the dark over water situation

WAITING GAME – Selangor water committee will only meet next week on water issue.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor state government remains tight lipped on its next course of action as the water level in the Sg Selangor dam continues to drop to worrying levels.

When contacted on the issue, State Infrastructure and Public Amenities Committee chairman Dr Yunus Hairi said that the state government is monitoring the situation.

“There are no new decisions until the state water committee meets next week,” he said.

When asked if Klang Valley residents should prepare for another round of rationing or wait for an official statement from the government, Yunus did not respond.

The Sg. Selangor dam supplies 60 per cent of the Klang Valley's water supply.

In late Feb, a water rationing exercise carried out in stages over two-months disrupted water supply to over 2 million consumers in the Klang Valley.
