PASIR MAS: Quick action by the Fire and Rescue Department saved a row of 14 units of shophouses from destruction in an evening blaze.
In the incident, four shophouses, comprising three electrical appliance shops and a restaurant were destroyed in the fire.
Kelantan Fire and Recue Operation Division assistant senior superintendent Che Mohd Fauzi Che Omar said the department received a call at 6.20 pm and 25 firemen from Balai Pasir Mas, Tunjong, Kota Baharu, Pengkalan Kubor and Rantau Panjang in five fire engines rushed to the location.
“We took about 30 minutes to bring the flame under control and stop it from spreading to other areas,” he told reporters at the incident site.
Che Mohd Fauzi said there were no casualties in raze while the total amount of losses and cause of fire were being investigated.
