CYCLING: Stanley ready to scale the world

PROMISING young Stanley Hoh is set to become Malaysian cycling’s next export with the 21-year old ready to be signed by new Taiwanese UCI Continental outfit Team Gusto.

The Mentakab-born Stanley, who has been under Datuk Ng Joo Ngan's stable of riders under the Kuala Lumpur team for the past three years, joins the team on Thursday and is ready to spend the next year living in Taiwan.

“Right now, I just want to stabilise my career. We’ll see how it goes over the next year,” said Stanley yesterday.

Having been part of the Kuala Lumpur team set-up and competed in several UCI international races since last year, Stanley was offered a chance to take the next step in his career by signing for the new outfit by the Gusto bikes local distributors the Attaque Bike Shop.

“I went on some training rides with the team and I was soon offered a contract.

“When I go there I will be training with the team again and I want to see how much racing there is for me to do. For sure I want to be racing in UCI races, as many of them as possible from now,” said Stanley.

Stanley is set to become the ninth Malaysian to be signed by a foreign outfit after M. Kumaresan, Ng Yong Li, Loh Sea Keong, Mohd Firdaus Daud, Anuar Manan, Adiq Husainie Othman, Amir Mustafa Rusli and Ahmad Haidar Anuawar.

His first race with his new outfit could be the Tour of East Java in Indonesia next month, followed by the Tour of Hokkaido in Japan.
