KL to host inaugural Cafe Malaysia exhibition

KUALA LUMPUR: Next year, the capital will be hosting the inaugural Cafe Malaysia 2015.

The exhibition marks one of the largest gatherings of tea and coffee industries in Southeast Asia.

Organised by Conference and Exhibitions Management (CEMS) and hosted by Malaysia Speciality Coffee Association (MSCA), the event will be held on May 7 at Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The three-day event is expected to draw 11,000 visitors and 150 exhibitors from 15 countries.

CEMS group managing director Edward Liu said the event is dedicated to the cafe and tea house communities.

“It brings together the cafe and tea shop owners and managers, importers and exporters, distributors and suppliers of machinery, equipment and raw materials.

“The event serves as a dynamic business-to-business platform for key decision makers to source for their cafe needs and explore new collaboration and opportunities in Malaysia where the number of speciality coffee drinkers and cafes has grown over the years, especially here in Kuala Lumpur,” said Liu.

During the exhibition, the public can expect fun-filled activities on everything coffee and tea.

There will be exclusive workshops, classes and demonstration of the latest technologies, trends and techniques related to the coffee and tea industry. The exhibition will also witness the national launch of the Malaysian Brewer’s Cup Championship and the Malaysian National Latte Art Championship.

MSCA president Victor Leong: “The main mission of the formation of the association is to unite, develop and enhance the speciality coffee industry in Malaysia.

“This means working with the industry to promote activities and competitions that benefit not only the industry but also its cultural and economic factor.”
