KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit closed lower against the US dollar today in tandem with most emerging Asian currencies.
At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.1650/1670 against the greenback from 3.1560/1580 on Tuesday.
A dealer said investors shifted their interest to the US dollar on solid US housing data, pushing the greenback to an 11-month high.
Meanwhile, the ringgit rose against the yen at 3.0642/0667 from yesterday's 3.0751/0783 and advanced against the euro at 4.2069/2108 from 4.2142/2178.
Against the British pound, it fell to 5.2697/2746 from 5.2532/2574 on Tuesday and was almost flat against the Singapore dollar at 2.5352/5387 from 2.5353/5388.-- Bernama
