KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar today on improved demand for the local unit.
At 9.25am, the ringgit was quoted at 3.1635/1655 against the greenback from 3.1710/1730 at 5 pm on Thursday.
The local unit also traded higher against other major currencies.
The ringgit rose against the yen to 3.0436/0461 from Thursday's 3.0531/0557 and appreciated against the British pound to 5.2426/2468 from 5.2588/2624.
It advanced against the euro to 4.1999/2032 from yesterday's 4.2079/2109 and gained against the Singapore dollar to 2.5314/5350 from 2.5338/5372 on Thursday.-- Bernama
