MH17: Mother requests privacy to grieve

KLANG: Flight stewardess Angeline Premila Rajandaran's ashes was brought to her home, here, around 12.40pm today in a nondescript car.

The car went into the compound and the family closed the gate.

A loud scream, presumed to be the mother's, was heard coming from the inside of the house.

Two days before Angeline's remains were brought home, her mother, only known as Cindy, had requested for the media to allow them to grieve in private.

Cindy had urged members of the media not to flock towards their family home.

"We do not want publicity, we just want to grieve privately.

"Please respect our privacy," she told the New Straits Times when met at her home, here, on Wednesday.

Angeline's remains was among the first batch of Malaysian victims who arrived at 10am today at Kuala Lumpur International Airport after a 12-hour flight from Amsterdam, Netherlands.

A Christian memorial service is expected to be organised.

Cindy confirmed that her son, Murphy Govind, 29, had flown to Amsterdam to identify Angeline's remains ahead of the National Mourning Day today.

Clearly distraught, she also appealed for the media not to attend and cover the funeral ceremony in order to allow them to grieve privately.

It was earlier reported that Angeline's last request to her family was via Whatsapp, to ask them to look after her pet dog, Lexi.

Murphy had told reporters that they had just celebrated Cindy's birthday two weeks before the flight crashed.

A total of 298 passengers and crew's lives, including 43 Malaysians, were lost when the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200 was shot down in eastern Ukraine more than a month ago on July 17.
