Tin closes lower at US$22,250 a tonne

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur Tin Market (KLTM) closed lower by US$150 to US$22,250 a tonne today due to lack of buyers, a dealer said.

He said the decline in the KLTM was influenced by lower performance on the London Metal Exchange, which was down by US$215 to US$22,205 a tonne.

"In today's trading, the market was supported by only European and local traders as the Japanese remained on the sidelines to wait for the price to fall further," he said.

Over at the KLTM, buyers bid for 29 tonnes against offers of 85 tonnes. Turnover decreased to 29 tonnes from 52 tonnes on Thursday while the premium between the KLTM and the LME widened to US$450 per tonne from US$305 per tonne previously.-- Bernama
