MH17: Remains of two victims laid to rest in Johor

PAGOH: The remains of Mohd Ali Md Salim was finally laid to rest at the Kampung Raja Muslim cemetery here at about 4.15 pm today.

Some 2,000 people were present at the cemetery to witness the funeral, including Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin as well as several state executive committee members.

The talqin (last rites) was performed by Johor Mufti Datuk Tahrir Samsudin.

Earlier, the helicopter carrying the remains of Mohd Ali landed at the National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) in Pagoh at 12.10pm.

The casket containing Mohd Ali’s remains, which was covered in Jalur Gemilang, was then carried by army personnel to the At Taqwa Mosque for tahlil and solat jenazah.

Mohd Ali's remains were later brought to his family home in Kampung Jayor before it was taken to the cemetery.

In Segamat, cargo engineer Hasni Hardi Parlan, 31, who perished in the MH17 air crash, was also given a proper funeral in his hometown in Taman Sri alam 2 in Segamat.

About 500 people, comprising of Hasni's relatives and friends, attended to his funeral.

Also present at Hasni's funeral was Health Minister Datuk Dr S Subramaniam, state speaker Tan Sri Mohamed Aziz and state executive committee members.

Earlier, Hasni remains arrived at Padang B Sekolah Tinggi Segamat at 12.10pm today and was laid to rest at 3pm at the Kampung Paya Luas Jalan Batu 8 Muslim cemetery.
