KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit closed sharply higher against the US dollar yesterday on renewed buying interest for the local unit.
At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.1600/1620 against the US dollar from 3.1710/1730 on Thursday.
The local unit was traded higher against other major currencies.
The ringgit advanced against the yen to 3.0452/0486 from Thursday's 3.0531/0557 and appreciated against the euro to 4.1974/1004 from 4.2079/2109.
Against the British pound, it went up to 5.2418/2461 from Thursday’s 5.2588/2624 and increased against the Singapore dollar to 2.5318/5343 from 2.5338/5372 previously. Bernama
