PAGOH: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is confident that Umno could wrestle back the Pengkalan Kubur state seat in Kelantan which was left vacated after the death of Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar recently.
He said Barisan Nasional's candidate for the Pengkalan Kubur by-election will be among the new blood in the party.
"Noor Zahidi is a very grounded person and I am confident that the candidate chosen would be someone who can contribute the same way as Noor Zahidi," he said.
Muhyiddin who is also Umno vice-president, was speaking to the press after attending to his Pagoh parliamentary Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house organised by the Umno Pagoh division today.
Muhyiddin's wife Puan Sri Noraini Abdul Rahman was also present at the event held at the Seri Pekembar Complex.
Some 20,000 visitors thronged the event which last until 6pm.
