KL shares easier at midmorning

KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia continued to trade lower mid-morning as investors took profit from yesterday's gains as sentiment was dented by generally weak corporate results.

At 11 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 0.46 of a point easier at 1,871.92, after opening 3.11 points lower at 1,869.27.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 7.17 points to 17,463.06 and the

Industrial Index gained 7.61 points to 3,265.37 but the Plantation Index

declined 15.311 points to 8,554.64.

The FBM Emas Index decreased 10.16 points to 13,043.66, the FBMT100 Index erased 6.22 points to 12,620.67, the FBM 70 lost 19.90 points to 14,210.14 and the FBM Ace fell 45.49 points to 6,941.46.

Losers led gainers 430 to 225 with 291 counters unchanged, 691 counters

untraded and 30 others were suspended.

Turnover stood at 995.83 million shares worth RM490.31 million.

Among actives, Sumatec, Takaso climbed half-a-sen to 42 se, Sanichi earned one sen to 11.5 sen and IFCA MSC added 4.5 sen to 43.5 sen.

Olympia lost one sen to 20 sen and Globaltec slipped half-a-sen to 10.5 sen.

For the heavyweights, Maybank added four sen to RM10.10, Public Bank gained two sen to RM19.36 and Axiata climbed one sen to RM6.95.

TNB lost eight sen to RM12.40 and CIMB eased two sen to RM7.23.
