Rafizi Ramli charged with making statements that may disrupt public peace

PETALING JAYA: PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli was charged at the Sessions Court with making statements that may disrupt public peace.

The Pandan member of parliament claimed trial to making statements that may arouse anger among Umno members in an article entitled "Will Rafizi quit if Selangor is not toppled?'.

Upon hearing the contents of the charge, he said 'I plead not guilty," he told the Sessions Court judge Abu Bakar Manat while smiling from the dock.

Rafizi allegedly committed the offence at The Edge Communication Sdn Bhd office in Menara KLK, Mutiara Damansara here at about 11.40am on Feb 4.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Azari Harun offered a RM 4,000 bail in one surety.

N.Surendran who represented Rafizi said, his client is a member of parliament and would not abscond.

He also pleaded for a bail lower than RM2,000 to be imposed on his client.

Abu Bakar then granted RM2,000 bail with one surety and fixed Sept 30 for mention.
