PKR defends sacking of Khalid Ibrahim from party

PUTRAJAYA: PKR disciplinary board chairman Datuk Tan Kee Kwong claimed that Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim was given ample time to meet with party leaders prior to his sacking.

Tan, speaking to reporters after a meeting with the Registrar of Societies (RoS), claimed that party president, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had asked Khalid to meet with her numerous times three weeks before he was sacked on Aug 9.

"We gave him three weeks to meet with Dr Wan Azizah. He kept telling us he had no time.

"He didn't have the time to meet with the party president, but he the had time to meet (Pas spiritual leader) Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and attended a breaking of fast event with (Selangor Umno liaison chief) Datuk Seri Noh Omar," he said.

Tan had met with RoS officials here today, over the sacking of Khalid from the party.

Khalid had, two weeks ago, filed a complaint to RoS against PKR and said that the party's decision of sacking him before the disciplinary board conducted a hearing was against the party's constitution.

PKR could risk being de-registered if it was found guilty of the charges brought against it by Khalid.
