Surendran charged with sedition

KUALA LUMPUR: Padang Serai Member of Parliament N. Surendran was charged with sedition over remarks pertaining Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's second sodomy case.

Surendran, 48, who is also Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president claimed trial to making seditious remarks in a Youtube video uploaded earlier this month.

He allegedly committed the offence at the Palace of Justice, Precint 3 Putrajaya here between 2pm and 4pm on Aug 8.

Deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharudin Wan Ladin offered a RM8,000 bail with one surety.

Surendran's counsel, Oh Cheang Ghee pleaded for a lower bail saying that his client has been a lawyer for over 20 years now.

Judge Ahmad Bache then granted RM4,000 bail with one surety and fixed Oct 3 for mention.
