GEORGE TOWN: Vehicles using the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge on Merdeka Day will receive a 20 per cent discount on tolls.
Bridge operator Jambatan Kedua Sdn Bhd (JKSB) will offer the discount to vehicles entering from 12am to 11.59pm on Aug 31.
After the discounts, private cars (Class 1) will only pay RM6.80 upon entering the toll plaza in Batu Kawan. The normal toll rate is RM8.50.
In a statement, JKSB managing director Datuk Dr Ismail Mohamed said the discount was part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
"We would also like to show our gratitude and appreciation to all our regular users.
The discounted tolls and the normal rates for other types of vehicles are:
Class 0 from RM1.70 to RM1.40; Class 2 from RM30.50 to RM24.40; Class 3 from RM70.10 to RM56.10; Class 4 from RM8.50 to RM6.80; and Class 5 from RM26.20 to RM21.
An average of 12,700 vehicles use the second bridge daily since its opening in February.
