Selangorians urge Pas to nominate candidate for MB post from party

SHAH ALAM: Despite Pas' insistence at not fielding one of their own for the menteri besar post, Selangor citizens believe the Islamist party should take the opportunity given by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah for them to lead the state and end the ongoing political conflict.

An English teacher from Klang, Zara Nasir, 35 said the stance taken by Pas is unprofessional because in order to end this conflict they should play their role by naming candidates from their party.

"Just go with the flow and adhere to the Selangor state constitution. We still have our Sultan and let us adhere to him," she said.

She also said that Pas ought to name a candidate because they should show their stand even though they are with the Pakatan coalition and at the same time showing respect to the Sultan by adhering His highness' decree.

Mazlina Ahmad Rashidi, 45, an administrator from Shah Alam said Pas is not taking the opportunity to suggest a candidate from their party and regarded their action as silly and doubtful.

"Pas should take the opportunity and name a candidate. Not suggesting

any candidate in the name of Pakatan Rakyat sounds silly.

"I doubt that they honestly want PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the menteri besar because they rejected the idea in the first place,” she said.

A public relation executive, Zahari Ismail, 30, from Klang said, "It is unwise for Pas not to name their own candidate since they are the one who rejected the idea to have a female menteri besar.

"In fact, they have been in the politics longer than PKR. They should not just follow PKR as they are more 'senior' and have more experience in

politics," he said.
