Suggestion for Sabah to secede is against the state and federal constitution: DPM

SIPITANG: Suggestions for Sabah to secede from Malaysia is an irresponsible act, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He stressed Sabah is an important state and the government will make sure it continues to remain in the country.

"There are irresponsible individuals claiming Sabah has no development and there are suggestions from small groups of people to bring the state out from Malaysia. All these are not right, " he said.

Muhyiddin is here to launch the Sabah International Gasing and Tamu Besar Festival.

Later he will be officiating the Beaufort Umno Divisional meeting.

Muhyiddin said this during his speech

"This effort is a mistake that goes against the state and federal constitutions. If we ignore this, it will jeopardise the existing unity and security in Sabah."

‎Muhyiddin was speaking to visitors at the International Gasing Festival and Tamu Besar, here.

He added action will be taken against irresponsible individuals for promoting such seditious acts.

Muhyiddin who arrived in the state this morning was ‎accompanied by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

Also present was Sipitang MP Datuk Sapawi Ahmad.
