ARAU: The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail has cautioned new undergraduates against undesirable elements that try to steer them away from their chosen path.
He noted that many students who displayed excellence in their studies had fallen prey and their focus deflected.
“As a reminder, when you get into university, you will be unwittingly influenced and might imitate the action of some of your peers who are more inclined towards excessive pleasure and entertainment.
“Having the liberty to mix freely and not being under the control of your parents is not a licence to do whatever you want,” he cautioned.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin who is also Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP)cancellor said this at a briefing for the 2014/2015 batch at the university’s Pauh Putra campus near here today.
He said parents must also play their role in providing the support, appreciation, security and hope, that their children need in their quest for academic success. – BERNAMA
