KL shares lower mid-day

KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia closed lower at mid-day today, weighed down by losses in selected blue-chips, including Maybank and CIMB.

At 12.30pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) erased 8.22 points to 1,859.47, after touching an intra-day low of 1,853.48. The key index moved between 1,853.48 and 1,872.45 throughout the morning session.

For the heavyweights, Maybank trimmed six sen to RM10.08, Public Bank eased two sen to RM19.16, TNB declined four sen to RM12.38, CIMB lost 10 sen to RM7.26 and Sime Darby was one sen lower to RM9.47.

Meanwhile, losers overwhelmed gainers by 466 to 281 with 294 counters unchanged, 584 untraded and 13 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.60 billion shares worth RM936.92 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index fell 69.61 points to 17,398.89, Industrial Index eased 12.81 points to 3,229.83 and the Plantation Index fell 59.43 points to 8,475.35.

The FBM Emas Index weakened 40.98 points to 12,961.4, FBMT100 Index slipped 40.02 points at 12,553.63 and the FBM Ace rose 6.16 points to 6,889.91. The FBM 70 appreciated 14.34 points to 14,199.83.

Among actives, Globaltec Formation and RGB International both went up one sen to 10.5 sen and 17 sen respectively and Efficient E-Solutions added 1.5 sen to 32.5 sen. Sumatec eased one sen to 46.5 sen.-- Bernama
