QNet kick-starts Man City sponsorship

PETALING JAYA: QNet, the flagship subsidiary of the QI Group, has scored a massive goal with its sponsorship deal — which it tagged as “global brand building” tie-up — with Manchester City, the reigning champion of the the English Premier League.

QI Group executive chairman Datuk Seri Vijay Eswaran said the sponsorship deal, which will see QNet advertise on the LED display panels around the football pitch, will give QNet, one of the top-5 direct selling companies in Asia, greater visibility.

A big fan of football and the EPL himself, Eswaran said that he is planning to organise viewing parties around the world for Manchester City football matches under the QNet banner.

He said the QNet sponsorship deal was signed in May and launched in July this year.

Declining to reveal the value of the deal with the football club, Eswaran said the sponsorship with the English champions also reinforces his philosophy that, like in sports, one does not become a success in business without the backing of a good team.

“Trust, sincerity and loyalty are things you can’t put on a resume but are valuable in team members for you to succeed in politics, sports and business,” he said.

He is also proud of the fact that a Malaysian company is making such an impact globally in the world’s biggest sport.

The QI Group has businesses in more than 20 countries, according to a Forbes magazine report in 1998. The report said that the group recorded a revenue of more than US$750 million (RM2.4 billion) last year.

Asked about group revenue, he said there has been good growth, declining to disclose the figures.
