Might, Mardi promote biomass energy use at forum

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (Might) has joined the Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development Institute (Mardi) in promoting the use of biomass for energy at the 7th Asean Plus Three forum held in Bangi today.

With the theme "Biomass Energy for the Green Future", the three-day forum is attended by participants from Asean, China, Japan and South Korea, Might said in a statement.

"During the forum, each participant is requested to share their country’s experience in implementing the biomass initiatives, and look at how they could work together in promoting biomass energy by leveraging each other’s strengths," it said.

Might is directly involved in the successful launch of the Malaysian Biomass Initiative (MBI), one of the key high impact programmes endorsed by the inaugural Global Science and Innovation Advisory Council (GSIAC) meeting held in New York in 2011.

A special purpose vehicle, MYBiomass Sdn Bhd, was created under the MBI following the endorsement by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the GSIAC meeting.-- Bernama
