Battersea Power Station on global tour

KUALA LUMPUR: Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), the developer of the iconic Battersea Power Station development in London, is taking Battersea Power Station global with a worldwide tour in October and November this year to 13 cities in 11 countries.

From Friday October 31, representatives from the shareholders and BPSDC will host exhibitions in London, Kuala Lumpur, New York, Dubai, Paris, Los Angeles, Milan, Tokyo, Beijing, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Doha.

Battersea Project Holding Company Ltd chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin said the shareholders’ ambition for Battersea Power Station is to create an amazing new urban quarter for London and one that is enjoyed both day and night.

"This is behind the drive to find the very best mix of UK and world-wide businesses to lease over 3 million sq ft of retail and office accommodation," he said in a statement posted on BPSDC website.

The company said the worldwide tour aims at finding the most exciting UK and global brands, businesses and restaurants to London's newest high street and the capital's largest and most central development.

It said Phase 1 of the mixed-use Battersea scheme will open in 2016 and once the entire project is completed in 2025, the 16.8-hectare development will be home to 25,000 people living and working on site.

With 40 million visits anticipated each year, Battersea Power Station will be one of the largest retail, leiusre and cultural complexes in central London, with businesses on site forecast to contribute almost 1 billion pound sterling a year to the UK economy in the first 20 years.

BPSDC chief executive officer Rob Tincknell said the Battersea Power Station is unique and has a very powerful existing brand profile.

"Together with other leading global retail and business brands, we believe this combination will create a truly world-class destination and a significant addition to the fabric of London," he said in the statement.

As part of the tour, BPSDC said there will be an opportunity for people to purchase 539 of the 1,305 Gehry Partners and Foster + Partners designed homes in Phase 3 of the development, which will be part of London’s newest pedestrianised high street -- the southern gateway to the Power Station.

Any remaining homes in Circus West (Phase 1) and the Grade II listed Power Station (Phase 2) will also be available for sale.

The company said the 310 Gehry Partners designed homes in “Prospect Place” and the 229 Foster + Partner homes in the “Battersea Roof Gardens” building will be made available to the public via a first-come, first-served sales programme that will start from Friday, October 31 in London as well as the first wave of cities to be visited, namely Kuala Lumpur, New York, Paris, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai.

Potential and interested buyers are encouraged to register at www.batterseapowerstation.co.uk from September 5 to find out more about the exhibitions and further details on the homes as they are released.
