Inspiring kids through photography

KUALA LUMPUR: SOME 30 underprivileged children were recently given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn basic photography from media photographers.

The kids were from Darul Aitam Walmasakin Tunku Abdul Rahman (Datar) children’s home.

The two-hour learning and sharing session was among the main activities of the Kembara Lensa Murni 2014 convoy.

The three-day charity convoy was organised by the Malaysian Press Photographers Association (MPPA).

It involved more than 30 photographers where 25 rode motorcycles while the others travelled in a van.

They were flagged off by MPPA adviser Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan in front of Menara Dato’ Onn of the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) last Friday.

Ahmad expressed his support for the noble efforts of the photographers to give back to the community.

The convoy had headed to Datar in Alor Star before returning to PWTC on Sunday.

MPPA president Zainal Abd Halim said the convoy was organised to allow the photographers to share their experience and knowledge with the children as photography could become a source of income for them in the future.

“This is the second time we are hosting the programme. We hope to continue organising this convoy annually,” said Zainal.
