Sabah BN goes on charm offensive

SHAH ALAM: Sabah Barisan Nasional has pledged to counter attempts by certain individuals to poison the minds of Sabahans with the idea of separating from Malaysia through rigorous public engagements, starting today.

Sabah BN secretary Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the coalition would go to the ground and engage the public through seminars, talks and other programmes to ensure the people fully understood the importance of unity and federalism.

Speaking to the media after launching the Umno Kapar division meeting yesterday, Rahman said BN was confident Sabahans would not be easily swayed to support calls for separation, as evident from the results of the 13th General Election.

“We are aware that some irresponsible individuals are urging for the separation of Sabah and are trying to gain support from Sabahans. This is against Sabah’s 20-point agreement, signed and acknowledged by our leaders, which prevent Sabah from being separated from Malaysia.

“Starting today, I and other BN politicians will be in Sabah to engage the people and explain the importance of retaining Sabah’s peace, prosperity and sovereignty as part of the Malaysian federation.

“Those who made these calls did not think of the consequences of their actions. Separating Sabah is not a small matter. There are consequences to everything.”
