Two cable thieves nabbed after police fire warning shot

TAPAH: Two suspected cable thieves who tried into a police patrol car were arrested after police fired a shot at Kampung Rahmat in Bidor near here early this morning.

District police chief Superintendent Som Sak Din Keliaw said police received information that several men in two cars were behaving suspiciously at 4.30am and despatched a patrol car to the scene.

"The policemen saw a Proton Saga and a Proton Waja speeding off and they decided to follow the Saga that was headed towards Bidor while the other car sped off towards Teluk Intan.

"While chasing the Proton Saga, the driver tried to ram into the police car, forcing my men to fire a shot which hit the bumper," he added.

Police found cables and equipment used to steal cables in the car, believed to be stolen, added Som Sak.
