Cheques no longer accepted at TNB counters and kiosks

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) will no longer accept cheque payments for Telekom Malaysia, water and local authority bills at their payment counters and kiosks, effective October 1.

In a statement today, TNB senior general manager (corporate affairs and communications) Datuk Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Amin said this was due to the increasing number of fraud cases involving cheques.

"However, for the time being we still accept payment by cheque for TNB bills," he added.

The statement also stated that clients would be required to write down their TNB 14-digit account numbers behind the crossed cheque when making payments to TNB.

"The payment will only be valid once the cheque is cleared," he said.

For further enquiries, customers are advised to contact TNB customer care officers at TNB Careline 1300 88 5454.
