Pas Muktamar: Pakatan Rakyat is just a coalition, not party, Hadi remind members

BATU PAHAT: Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has reminded party members that Pakatan Rakyat is not their party but merely a coalition that Pas is a member.

Stressing that Pas members do not owe allegiance to the coalition, Hadi in his closing speech of the party’s 60th muktamar (annual general meeting) here yesterday that there were differences of ideology which seperate Pas from other members of the coalition, PKR and DAP.

He said Pas’ ideology is based on Islamic teachings while PKR and DAP were secular parties.

“Pas is cooperating with our Pakatan partners because we have similar goals like justice for all and promoting racial unity. We are together because of these similar goals,” said Hadi.

Hadi, however lambasted PKR and DAP for not adher’ing to proper conduct of cooperation with Pas by “stealing’ two of Pas’ assemblymen in order to achieve their aim of installing PKR president Datuk seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as Selangor MB.

“Is this the right way for them in honoring our cooperation in the coalition?“ he asked.

Hadi described the two Pas assemblyman, Saari Sungib (Hulu Kelang) and Hasnul Baharuddin (Morib) as “barua” (stooge) for joining their counterpart from PKR and DAP in signing a statutory declaration in support of Dr Wan Azizah without the approval of Pas leadership.

“We are not taking this lightly. Didn’t all our assemblymen signed a ‘baiah’ (oath) when they were named as candidates in the general election? What happened to the ‘baiah’?” asked Hadi again.

Hadi also warned members not to promote the agenda of other parties in Pas.

“Don’t use the party as a bridge to get to the other side or like a hotel, where you would leave after having a nice meal or a good sleep,” said Hadi.

He also urged members to be open minded and not to be divided even if there are differences of opinion.
