TUMPAT: Independent candidate for the Pengkalan Kubor state by-election Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary is a picture of disappointment.
He organised a competition, ‘Inventing the Biggest and Most Creative Pen’ for the people in the state constituency. Sadly, it has drawn no response.
He lamented that none in the area had contacted him to ask for details of the competition, following his announcement on the matter on Thursday.
This was despite the RM2,400 cash prize money offered, noted Izat Bukhary.
Now, the man has only four more days to campaign before the by-election on Sept 25.
“I am at a loss...because until today, no one has contacted me to take part in the competition.
“This is because the closing date to join the competition is Tuesday. Regardless, I am still waiting for those voters keen to take part in the competition,” he told reporters when campaigning here today.
He has also offered 65 consolation prizes to commensurate with the 65 starting votes he had garnered in the previous by-election. - Bernama
