AIMS signs long-term anchor tenancy

KUALA LUMPUR: AIMS Group, a leading carrier-neutral data services provider, cements its physical presence in the capital Lumpur by signing a long-term anchor tenancy at the 18-storey Menara AIMS that has housed its headquarters for the past 14 years.

Menara AIMS, formerly known as Menara Aik Hua, has an area of 37,500 square feet of fully commissioned data centre with work on another 10,000 square feet in progress.

In a statement today, the AIMS said it is home to all domestic telecommunication providers as well as more than 80 per cent of international service providers.

This makes Menara AIMS, located minutes away from the Petronas Twin Towers, the most connected site in the central business district of Kuala Lumpur and one of the most connected sites in the country, and served as the reference site for the Malaysian Internet Exchange, it said.

AIMS recently announced that its 2014 second quarter earnings grew 11 per cent to RM15.97 million from RM14.3 million in 2013.

Its Group chief executive officer, Chiew Kok Hin said AIMS commands 14 per cent market share and its revenue growth had been steadily increasing.

"The high capital and operating costs of the data centre business that have severely challenged other local players are under control," he added.

AIMS’ diverse client portfolio ranges from local corporations and multinational companies to SME businesses, across industries like aviation, hotel, telecommunication, financial services, online businesses, oil and gas, retail and content providers.

Moving forward, the group would further expand into financial services, and oil and gas, manufacturing and logistics sectors, he said.

Chiew said Bank Negara Malaysia’s recent guidelines for financial institutions would help drive the group's disaster recovery and business continuity planning services to become significant contributors to its growth in the years ahead.-- Bernama
