TUMPAT: The search for “Pengkalan Kubor” has produced over 900,000 links and results since the death of state assemblyman Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar.
The Google search include for finding hotels, houses for rent, duty-free zones, restaurants, number of voters and the contesting parties and candidates.
According to records, the reading level of intermediate internet users rose to a high 78 per cent.
This is followed by basic internet users at 14 percent while professional internet users only rose by eight percent.
The image search for ‘Mat Razi’ or full name of the BN candidate, Mat Razi Mat Ail produces thousands of images on nomination, house visits and campaigns.
The Facebooks of Mat Razi and PAS candidate Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim were inactive while the Facebook of Independent candidate Ismail Bukhary Izat Bukhary was not found.
The by-election is a three-cornered contest among Mat Razi Mat Ail of the BN, Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim of PAS and independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.
It is being held following the death of three-term state assemblyman, Noor Zahidi of the BN on Aug 20.
Noor Zahidi had retained the seat in the general election held last year with a majority of 1,736 votes, beating Saharun Ibrahim of (PKR) and Izat Bukhary (independent).
PKR has allowed PAS to contest its seat in this by-election.
Polling is on Sept 25 (Thursday).
